Mrs. Wilma Janie Wilkes, 72, passed away suddenly at her residence on Friday, April 4, 2025. Mrs. Wilkes was born in Statesboro to the late Delbert Wilkes and Wilma Barnard on August 30, 1952. She held a masters degree in education and worked for many years as a school teacher with the most recent being Jenkins County Board of Education. Mrs. Wilkes enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carmen Angela Barfield; brother, Buddy Wilkes and sister, Judy Wilkes.
Survivors include her son; Jonathan Priest (Amy) of Nevils; four grandchildren, Charli-Ana Barfield, Sydney Priest, Brenigan Priest and Briley Priest; nephew, Allen Wilkes and two nieces, Theresa Wilkes and Darlene Barnard.
Per her wishes, no services are scheduled for Mrs. Wilma Janie Wilkes.
