William "Bill" Powell

Claxton- Mr. William “Bill” Vonallen Powell, age 62 died Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his home in Claxton after a lengthy battle with kidney cancer.  Mr. Powell was born in Tampa, FL to the late William Lavon Powell and Louise Warner Powell.  He was retired as an iron worker with Local 709 and loved to race both flat track and dirt tracks.  Mr. Powell enjoyed turkey shoots and hunting.  His family knows that he’s in Heaven now ripping up the racetracks and giving everyone a run for their money.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Sue Crosby, mother, Louise Powell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda Powell Stewart and Jim Stewart and Angie Powell Holmes and Andrew Holmes; sister and brothers-in-law, Rhonda Powell Catchings and David Catchings, Cheryl Powell Lively, Becky Powell, Cindy Powell Phillips and Buddy Phillips, Jennifer Powell Orzechowiski and Brian Orzechawski and Amber Powell Rinaldi and Joseph Rinaldi; brother and sister-in-law, Brian Powell and Carly Guthrie; grandchildren, Daylinn Campbell, Abigale Campbell, Mattie Campbell, Reed Holmes and Jude Holmes; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Noon- 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the funeral home.

Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Tyson officiating.

Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery
