William "Bill" Brown

Mr. William “Bill” Hal Brown, age 88, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Candler Hospital. Mr. Brown was born in Dublin, GA on October 23, 1933 to the late Belford Hal and Kizzie Walker Brown. He served in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War and later worked in maintenance for the Bryan County Board of Education. Mr. Brown was a long-time resident of Bryan County where he was very involved in different committees and also a member of Ellabell United Methodist Church. He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, was an avid gardener which he enjoyed sharing some of the fruits of his labor; but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Corine Moore Miller Brown; two brothers, Donnie Brown and Dale Brown and three sisters, Faye Newsom, Dorothy Haranda and Merle Brown.

Survivors include five sons, Bill Brown and his wife Amelia of Little Rock, AR, Eddie Brown and his wife Phylis of Shellman Bluff, Mike Brown and his wife Beth of Bulloch, Scott Brown of Groveland and Jimmy Brown of Pembroke; three daughters, Debra Bennett of Springfield, MO, Reenie Lanier of Pembroke and Beth Findley and her husband Billy of Metter; step-son, Joe Miller and his wife Angie of Claxton; two step-daughters, Debbie Newman and her husband Derrell of Pembroke and Jane Burnsed of Pembroke; brother, James and his wife Karen of Statesboro; sister, Francis Hotchkist of FL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tab Miller and Reverend Patrick Brannen officiating.

Burial will follow at Ellabell United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors.


In Lieu of flowers please make donation to Ellabell UMC P.O Box 36 Ellabell, Ga or to TSM P.O Box 561 Claxton, Ga 30417 for the proceeds to go to the Indian reservation which was near and dear to Dads heart.
