Mr. Willard Powell, Sr., 82, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Mr. Powell, Sr. was born on July 24, 1934 to the late Luther and Essie Mosley Powell in Reidsville. He worked as a truck driver with Floyd Tree Service for numerous years, enjoyed fishing and was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Powell; daughter, Shirley Faye Powell; three brothers, L.P. Powell, Bill Powell and Carl Powell; and sister, Marynell Purvis.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Powell and his wife Dreama of Statesboro, Willard Powell, Jr. and his fiancée Jackie Stain of Ellabell and William Luther Powell, Sr. and his wife Cindy of Brooklet; three daughters, Martha Wilson and her husband Hank of Brooklet, Lynell Wright and her husband William of Brooklet and Julie Marie Powell and her fiancée John Paul Newsome of Ellabell; former wife, Alice Powell; two brothers, P.G. Powell of North Carolina and Kenneth Powell of Reidsville; sister, Shirley Maulden Powell and her husband Archie of Rincon and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.
