Mr. Wesley Wayne Wilkes, 61, passed away on Tuesday at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Wilkes was born on February 20, 1957 in Savannah to the late Gus Wilkes and Charlotte Woodcock Huggins. He was president of the 1975 graduating class of Bryan County High School where he was also a member of the Track and Field Team. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy and later worked for Coastal Canvas Products and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pembroke. Mr. Wilkes loved fishing the Ogeechee River and enjoyed playing golf.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gus Wilkes and Charlotte Woodcock Huggins and one brother, Carl Wilkes.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Angela “Angie” Estill Wilkes; sons Wesley James David Wilkes (Kellie) of Ellabell; daughter, Candace Blaine Ennis (Jeffrey) of Brooklet; brother, Joe Frank Huggins of Ellabell; two sisters, Theresa Masters and Joann Gaddy both of Savannah; six grandchildren, Tanner Ennis, Cooper Ennis, Gunner Ennis, Harper Ennis, Karlie Myatt and Kenlie Wilkes.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018
Graveside service will be held at Northside Cemetery Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with military honors. Rev. Bob Creech and Doctor Brad Butler will officiate.
