Pembroke
Mr. Warren Eugene “Gene” Christopher Hall, 36, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 after saving several lives from drowning at Devaul Henderson Park. Mr. Hall was born on January 21, 1981 in Savannah. He worked for the Bryan County Recreation Department and was previously a shift manager at McDonald’s in Pembroke. Gene was the Youth Director at Christ Baptist Church and was the youngest brother of four siblings but had the wisdom many years older. Gene was the epitome of a Christ centered young man, leading by example in every area of his life. While he was all of that for Christ and more, he would put anyone to shame on a basketball court. He held no punches when bragging about his mother’s macaroni and cheese and his grandmother’s sweet potato pie. He loved singing although his siblings would tell you that the arena in which he should limit his singing to should be in the shower where only soap, towels and shower gel would be his only audience. Gene’s love for Georgia sports teams was unparalleled and would spiritually challenge you if you believed any other team was better. His personality was certainly bigger than life and was immediately known to everyone that came in contact with him.
He is predeceased by his father, Anthony Hall.
Survivors include his parents, Joseph and Sandra Poole of Columbia, SC; siblings, Tony Hall of Ellabell, Dominique Merriweather of Birmingham, AL and Carla Mitchell of San Antonito, TX; grandparents, Evamae Taylor of Ellabell and Vera Hall of Hazlehurst; uncle Linwood Gordon of Naval Base Guantanamo Bay; aunts, Veronica Cromartie of Ellabell and Adrianne Lee of Hinesville, Great Aunts, Great Uncles; nephew, Demond Hall of San Antonito, TX and nieces, Tenia Keith of Birmingham, AL, Genesis Hall and Trinity Mitchell both of Antonito, TX.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 10 – 12 p.m. at George D. Hendrix Park Gym.
Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m.
Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
“I am leaving this legacy to all of you…to bring peace, justice, equality, love and a fulfillment of what our lives should be. Without vision, the people will perish, and without courage and inspiration, dreams will die-the dream of freedom and peace.”-Rosa Parks
