Susie M. Magee

Mrs. Susie M. Magee, age 86, passed away at East Georgia Regional Medical Center of heart failure on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Mrs. Magee was born in Canton, PA to the late John Albert Rathbun and Anna Louise Lathrop Rathbun on June 9, 1937 in Troy, PA.  Mrs. Magee was a member of the John Duggar American Legon Post 164 Auxiliary where she served as president and was instrumental in placing the American Flags in downtown Pembroke. She was also a former member of the Pembroke Gardening Club and North Bryan Chamber of Commerce. She worked at the Pembroke Public Library until her health force her to retire. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Magee was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Wayne Rathbun, LaRue Rathbun, Marvin Rathbun and Darwin Allen Rathbun.  

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, William Robert “Bill” Magee, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Cindi Spencer of Nazareth, PA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jana Smolinski of Pembroke and Lisa and Richie Lambert of Dover, DE; three grandsons, John S. Clendaniel III and his wife Vella of Dover, DE, Joshua Spencer of Pen Argyl, PA and Christopher   Spencer and his wife Kristin of Bangor, PA; one granddaughter, Jenna O’Connell and her husband, Robert of Dover, DE; one great granddaughter; five great grandsons and one great great grandson.

A memorial service will be 3 P.M. Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Sullivan officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bryan Animal League.
