Pembroke- First Sergeant (retired) Stuart Lawrence Schneider, age 77, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at his home. Mr. Schneider was born in Orange, New Jersey to the late Harry Schneider and Yetta Grossman Schneider. He retired as a First Sergeant with over 20 years of service in the United States Army and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Mr. Schneider also served as an officer in the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department and served the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was a certified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council as an instructor and was an expert marksman. Mr. Schneider was a collector of guns and loved time on the firing range. He enjoyed fishing, music and was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Ezel Lodge #335. In addition to his parents, Stuart was preceded in death by one son, Chuck Conn; one great grandson, Paul “Bear” Sexton and one sister, Toby Whitman
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Gloria Jean Moore Schneider of Pembroke; two sons, Cary Conn of Moody, AL and Chris Conn of Moody, AL; one daughter, Cheryl Conn of Foley, AL; grandchildren, Christina Sexton, Katie Sexton, Cammie Sexton, Jacquelin Conn, James Conn, Chris Conn, Jr., Kelly Conn Drylie and Danny Conn; eight great grandchildren including John David Sexton, Morgan Conn, Matthew Sexton and C.J Drylie; one great great granddaughter, Isla Sexton; three nephews, Larry Whitman, Jonathan Whitman, and Harry Whitman and one niece, Adena Whitman.
Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the funeral home.
Funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home. Interment will be in Northside Cemetery with full military honors.
