Sarah Lavon Hodges Durrence

Mrs. Sarah Lavon Hodges Durrence, age 83, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Mrs. Durrence was born in Pembroke to the late Claude Hodges and Leona Todd Hodges on February 25, 1940. She worked as a claims specialist with Prudential Financial Insurance Company for 19 years and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Durrence enjoyed making flower arrangements, watching t.v., traveling, fishing and spending time with her family. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Durwood C. Durrence; son, Stephen Calvin Durrence; brother, Charles J. Hodges and sister, JoAnn Crowe.

Survivors include her two sons, Mark Durrence of Jacksonville, Fl and Calvin Lee Durrence of Glennville, GA; fiancé of 15 years, Richard Lee of Pembroke; sister, Louise S. Williams of Black Creek; four grandchildren, Stephanie Cobb, Marc Connor Durrence, Victor Durrence and Calie Durrence; one great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dan Bryant officiating.

Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville, FL at 3:00 p.m.
