Mr. Rufus Benjamin Kangeter, 66, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mr. Kangeter was born to the late Rufus Cecil Kangeter and Doris Barnard Kangeter on July 5, 1949 in Bulloch County. Mr. Kangeter served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic and served two tours in Vietnam, was the Owner and Operator of Gator Logging, Rufus Lounge and 280 Package Shop, enjoyed farming, loved his grandchildren and animals.
He is preceded in death by his brother Raybon Kangeter and sister, Elizabeth Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth Kangeter; daughter, India Kangeter Stephens of Pembroke; son, Doug Kangeter (Christy) of Pembroke; sister, Sharon Kangeter of Pembroke; three brothers, Adam McKinney (Monica) of Eden, Eric McKinney of Pembroke and Leslie McKinney of Pembroke; beloved grandchildren, Ava, Abi and Roderick; two daughters, Nicki Miles and Jessica Miles; beloved grandchildren, Cecil Miles, Heaven Terrell, Banks White, Zoe Coursey and Liv Coursey; sister-in-law, Shirley Kangeter; eight nieces and nephews, Annette, Jamie, Sherry, April, Lisa, Jimbo, Jordan and Jessica; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 6 -9 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Pembroke with Doctor Brad Butler and Reverend Dan Bryant officiating.
Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
