Roberta Hester

Mrs. Roberta Evans Hester, age 62, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center.  Mrs. Hester was born in Clarksdale, MS in 1958 to the late Oakley Evans and Lilly Brown Evans.  Mrs. Hester retired as a machine operator at Imperial Packing Company and was a member of Advent Christian Church in Pembroke.  She loved shopping and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernis Evans and Hosie Allen; two sisters, Dorothy Roberson and Tahida Adulla and one grandson, Jamoreon Evans.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Floyd Lee Hester of Pembroke; two sons, Joseph Mandrell Evans of Pembroke and Ashton Lee Hester of Pembroke; two daughters and a son-in-law, Latoya Narkia Evans-Kelly and Johnny Kelly, Jr. of Pembroke and Diamond Lashae Hester of Pembroke; two brothers, Nolan Evans of Hardeeville, SC and Bennie Evans of Indiana; two sisters, Leois Carter of Savannah and Fanny Mae Evans of Clarksdale, MS and eight grandchildren, Lovenna Evans, Zachariah Evans, Nyziya Evans, Jotavious Evans, Joseph Lenon, Jaliyah Kelly, Jahnesty Kelly and Johnny Kelly, III; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 in the Morrison Memorial Chapel with interment to follow in Northside Cemetery.
