Mr. Robert Kenneth McGinnis, age 82, passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Mr. McGinnis was born in Ridgeland, South Carolina on September 11, 1939. After completing high school, he joined and served honorably in the U.S. Army and later worked for Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart as a civil service personnel and retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F & A.M., Alee Shriners, Haunted Forest Moose Lodge #1550 and the American Legion. Mr. McGinnis enjoyed fishing, watching football, wrestling, loved Applebee’s and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin Pittman and her husband Daniel of Ellabell and Tanya Davidson and her husband Billy of Claxton; mother, Betty Sheppard of Savannah; four grandchildren, Ashley White and her husband Gary, John Webster, Jr., Brandon Davidson and Miranda Davidson; aunt, Margie Winn and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Stan Tyson officiating.
Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery with military honors.
