Robert Greene

Mr. Robert Fredrick Greene, 96, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 18, 2019. Mr. Greene was born in Ellabell on August 21, 1922 to the late William Luther and Vidalia Lewis Greene. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II during the Battle of Okinawa as a Seabee. After his military service, he became a bus driver for Trailways driving for 7 years and later worked for Greyhound where he drove for 31 years and logged a total of well over one million miles driven. Mr. Greene was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening and reading his Bible.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Cook Greene; one daughter, Irene Spann; five brothers, Jennings Greene, Luther Greene, Reverend Joseph Greene, Reverend Harold Greene, Sr. and Seaborn Greene; three sisters, Lucelle Bell, Margaret Smith and Judy Smith.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Greene Weaver and her husband Gerald of Cohutta; sister, Beulah Kuntz of Brunswick; son-in-law, Henry "Bubba" Spann of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Jessica Kurina and her husband Tom of Tamp, FL, Leslie Frye and her husband Ben of Minneapolis, MN, Shannon Veselsky and her husband Tony of Washington, DC, Michael Spann and his wife Tammy of Pocahontas, AR and Brook Sirmans and her husband Mark of Dalton, GA; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Greene, Jr. and Reverend Clint Sullens officiating.

Burial will follow at Eldora Cemetery with military honors.
