Blitchton- Rev. James Douglas "J.D." Dickerson, age 88, died Tuesday, Jan7, 2014 at The Place in Pooler. Mr. Dickerson was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as a signalman on a supply ship during WWII. He was a retired education specialist, taught English and Reading, and was a minister of the Southern Baptist Faith. Mr. Dickerson loved tending his vegetable garden and was an avid fisherman and a hard worker. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Morris Dicierson, two sons, James and Bobby Dale Dickerson and grandson, James Dryfus Strickland
Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, June and George Strickland of Daisy, Emma Jane Barrow of Hagan, and Liz and Rufus Kangeter of Pembroke and Rosetta and Tim Stanfield of Daisy, two sisters, Ruth Crist of Vancouver, WA and Mary Fitch of Cleveland, OH, 11 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Friday, Jan. 10, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 8 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
