Pembroke- Mr. Ralph William Shuman, age 84, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at his home. Mr. Shuman was born in Pembroke, GA to the late Earl Shuman and Emma Clanton Shuman. He retired in 1976 as a petty officer staff sergeant first class with the United States Coast Guard and later served as a self-employed truck driver for 26 years. He also worked with Gann Car Crushing and Hudd Distribution. Mr. Shuman was a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shuman was preceded in death by four sisters, Earline Geiger, Jewel Vincen, Faye Shuman and Peggy Bath and one brother, Earl Shuman, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Fay Shuman of Pembroke; daughter and her fiancé, Lynn Shuman and Leslie Holcombe of Pembroke; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Tammy Shuman of Pembroke; grandchildren, Donald Lloyd, Hadley Sapp, Timothy and Maddy Cannady and Chloe and Chad Billman; great grandchildren, Skylar Billman, Levi Billman and Caroline Grace Cannady; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Gail Shuman and Seward and May Shuman.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the funeral home
A memorial service will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
