Phyllis Covington

Pembroke-  Phyllis Leland Soles Covington, age 74, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta.  Mrs. Covington was born in Dublin, GA on April 2, 1948 to the late Bill Soles and Elaine Peace Soles.  She was a long-time employee of Walmart where she worked in the fabrics department and was the bus driver for Bryan County Elementary Schools for many years.  Mrs. Covington enjoyed taking care of her flowers, family cruises and loved to shop for clothes.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Covington was preceded in death by her son, Billy Thomas Covington and two granddaughters, Kadi Hodges and Tara Heartleban.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Pam Covington of Ellabell; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Regina and Jake Evans of Grovetown, GA, Cynde and Pat Zorn of Atlanta, and Connie Hodges of Bulloch County; one sister, Janice Johnson of Dublin; one brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Jean Mimbs of Bradenton, FL; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. until Noon on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Rogers officiating.  Interment will follow in Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
