Peggy Jean Hilliard

Mrs. Peggy Jean Kangeter Hilliard, age 74, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mrs. Hilliard was born in Pembroke to Martin Kangeter and Maude Futch Kangeter on October 4, 1949. She retired from the U.S. Post Office as a clerk with over 34 years of service.  She loved taking care of  her plants and had a green thumb.  Mrs. Peggy enjoyed the mountains in Tennessee during the fall and Disney World.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, George W. Kangeter and Ray Gordon Kangeter; four sisters, Shirley Walker, Christine Jernigan, Dorita Beckworth and Barbara Ann Kangeter.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Mikell Dean Hilliard; four sons, George Mikell Hilliard and his wife Kimberly of Ellabell, William David Hilliard and his wife Heather of Pooler, Paul Daniel Hilliard of Ellabell and Matthew Dean Hilliard and his wife Jennifer of Pembroke; brother, Tommy Kangeter and his wife Wanda of Thunderbolt; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:45 a.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Northside. Cemetery.
