Ellabell- Paul Melvin Souls, Jr. age 79, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at Landmark Hospital. Mr. Souls was a born in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Paul Melvin Souls, Sr. and Virginia Hawkins Souls. He was a resident of Ellabell for over 50 years, a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Savannah Machinist and Foundry with over 30 years of service. Mr. Souls was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Ellabell and loved to fish. He also enjoyed canoe and raft racing and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Souls was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Souls and two sisters, Sylvia White and Grace Quakenbush.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Souls, III of Statesboro and William Clayton Souls of Ellabell; one daughter, Linda Sullivan of Guyton; two brothers, Edward Souls of Jacksonville and Kenneth Souls of Bloomingdale; three sisters, Sandra Carol of Jacksonville, Shirley Sapp of Bloomingdale and Dorothy “Dottie” Myers of Pembroke; grandchildren, Jonathan and Jamie Souls, Stacie Souls and Drake Boutwell, Debbie and Sara Souls, Michael Sullivan and Matthew Sullivan and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Sullivan officiating and Rev. Chad Eastman assisting.
Burial will be held at First Baptist Church of Ellabell Cemetery with military honors.
