Black Creek- Nolen Howell Harper, Jr., age 87 passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024. Mr. Harper was born in Brownsville, TN to the late Nolen Howell Harper, Sr. and Florence Wallace Harper. He was retired as a cotton classer with the United States Department of Agriculture with over 41 years of service and was a member of Black Creek Holy Church of God. Mr. Harper loved antiques and the arts. He enjoyed reading, writing and gardening. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harper was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy and John Harper and his brother, James Harper.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Elizabeth Cobb Harper of Black Creek; two daughters and a son-in-law, Terry Harper Weakes and Glynn Weakes of Freeport, FL and Therica Smith of Memphis, TN; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Betty Harper of Lakeland, TN and Bud Minyard of Memphis, TN; one sister, Margie Colville of MS and 12 grandchildren, Bianna, Cheslea, Hunter, Dylan, William Jr., Jessica, Madison, Michael, Timothy, Jr., Lacy, Lezley and Bradlea.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 P.M. Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Black Creek Holy Church of God.
A memorial service will follow at 7 P.M. Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Black Creek Holy Church of God with Pastor Stan Tyson, Pastor Jonathan Lee, Pastor Waymon Dukes and Pastor Marion Strickland officiating.
Flanders Powell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Nolen Howell Harper.
