Pembroke-Mr. Vinson David Conley age 81 passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Conley was a lifelong resident of Pembroke and a long time member of The Bridge Church. He retired after 34 years service as a foreman with the GA. State Highway Department and also retired after 14 years with the Bryan County Road Department. He later worked maintenance at the Courthouse and with the Bryan County School System. He loved home construction and working on cars. Mr. Conley especially loved helping those who were in need. He is predeceased by parents William Perry and Sarah Margaret Sapp Conley, brother R.L. Conley, sisters Gail Lanier and Julia Ennis.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dannis Conley of Pembroke, sons and daughter-in-law David and Darlene Conley of Pembroke, and Gene Conley of Pembroke, daughters and son-in-law Sarah and David Toole and Brenda Tyson all of Pembroke; brother Benny Conley of Augusta, sisters Mary Howard of St. Marys, Betty Gibson of Daisy and Alice Van Buren of Atlanta; grandchildren Tanya Faith, Brent and Janey Conley, Mandy and Lance Toole, and special grandchild Trey Cowart Toole, and great grandchildren Brett, Jada and Ava and close friend of the family Jeffery Byer of Pembroke.
Visitation is 5-8 P.M. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 3 P.M. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at The Bridge Church with Dr. Lawrence Butler and Reverend Dewayne Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery. The Cornerstone Sunday School Class of The Bridge Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
