Pembroke-Mr. Van Carlton Boone, Sr. age 66 passed away Sunday June 1, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mr. Boone was an iron worker with International Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Iron Workers Local 709. He loved to sing country music, enjoyed boxing, and was very much the jokester. He was preceded in death by his parents Hermon Marlin and Geneva Gertrude Strickland Boone, Sr., two brothers Marlin Boone, Jr. and Wayne Boone and a sister Helen Stevenson.
He is survived by wife Bonnie Virginia Kight Boone of Pembroke, sons Van Boone, Jr. of Pembroke, Donnie Boone of Hollywood, FL, Lee Boone of Pembroke, Michael Jager of Pembroke, Christopher R. Boone of Bloomingdale, and Dylan Boone of Cocoa, FL, daughters Donna Carter of Rincon and Debbie Kellermeyer of Ridgeland, SC, brothers Walter Boone of Millen, and Randy Stapleton of Rincon, sisters Linda Gail Clark of Richmond Hill, Carol Ann Crapse of Statesboro, and Sandra Faye Robins of Pooler; 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 6-9 P.M. Thursday June 5, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Friday June 6, 2014 in the chapel of the funeral home with interment at Northside Cemetery. Flanders Morrison Funeral Home of Pembroke is in charge of arrangements.
