Ellabell- Mrs. Velma J. "Moochie" Nicholson age 70 passed away Friday February 28, 2014. Mrs. Nicholson was a longtime resident of Ellabell and attended First Baptist Church of Ellabell. She was a part of the family construction business for over 38 years. She loved shopping and had a great sense of humor and took great pride in embellishing the truth, and she loved "Bud Nicholson" to the end. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 38 years Willard LaFayette "Bud" Nicholson, daughter Kathy Hughes, her parents Howard Martin and Mary Gladys Sheets Manning, two brothers Billy and O.B. Manning, and a sister Sil Davenport.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Robin and Roy Hudson of Brooklet, and Lebeth and Tim Stillwell of Ellabell, son-in-law Tommy and Denice Hughes, three sisters Earvie Bard of Ellabell, Hilda White of Lake Sinclair, and Judy Welborn of West Minister, SC; and six grandchildren Michael and Mandy Hughes, Chad McDougal, Christian Moody, Jennifer and Jimmy Oliver, Timmy and Katrina Stillwell, and Lindsay Stillwell, and four great-grandchildren Chance Oliver, Patients Oliver, Reed Moody, and Luke McDougal and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation is 6-9 P.M. Sunday March 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Monday March 3, 2014 in the chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Brad Butler and Reverend Jim Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Ellabell Baptist Cemetery. Flanders Morrison Funeral Home of Pembroke is in charge of arrangements.
