Pembroke-Mrs. Joylene "Joyce" Scott Douglas, age 78, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 while surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Douglas was a long-time resident of Pembroke and a member of First Baptist Church of Pembroke for over 48 years. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother, an avid reader and an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah V. and Sarah Peebles Scott, and several siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William Grable Douglas of Pembroke, two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbi and Wade Lester of Port Orange, FL, and Cissy and Mark Nessola of Rincon; two sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy Sellers and Shirley and Hubert Gunn, all of Swainsboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 5-8 P.M. Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Friday, December 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Pembroke, with Dr. Bradley Butler and Pastor Stan Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 201 Television Circle, Savannah, GA 31406 or Halifax Health-Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
