Ellabell- Mrs. Betty Alexander Howell, age 82 died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Howell was a long-time resident of Ellabell and a member of Bloomingdale Alliance. She retired from both Trade Winds Seafood Packing Company where she served as a supervisor in the specialty plant and from Sommers Oil Company. Mrs. Howell loved to sing at church, enjoyed knitting and canning and was an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 58 years, Joe Ceiphus Howell, Sr. and son, Robert "Bob" Howell.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joe C. and Patsy L. Howell, Jr. of Ellabell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cynthia H. and Dan Morrow of Ellabell and Pamela H. Griffin of Ellabell; daughter-in-law, Vickie Howell; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6-9 P.M. Monday, March 24, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Rev. Steve McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery.
