Garden City-Mrs. Barbara S. Floyd age 72 passed away Monday February 24, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mrs. Floyd was a longtime resident of Garden City and a member of Cedar Hill Christian Church in Virginia. She retired as a teacher after 35 years of service in Virginia and Chatham County, Georgia. She was an avid seamstress and an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her parents William M. and Myrtle Kinser Sergent.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years James "Jim" Floyd of Garden City, step-daughters and sons-in-law Angela and Al Usher of Shawnee, GA, and Rhonda F. and Mack Harkness of Thomasville; a sister and brother-in-law Judy and Claude Penley of Jonesville, VA and four grandchildren.
Visitation is 1- 2 P.M. Thursday February 27, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Thursday February 27, 2014 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Reverend Al Usher officiating. Interment will follow in Lawrence Baptist Cemetery. Flanders Morrison funeral Home of Pembroke is in charge of arrangements.
