Pembroke-Mr. Russell Daniel Hughes, Sr. age 55 died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at his home. Mr. Hughes was a longtime resident of Pembroke and an iron construction and structural fabricator for over 30 years with Sundt of Arizona. He was a hard and dedicated worker. He is predeceased by his parents Jasper Garland and Winnie Fanning Hughes Davis, brothers Don and Joe Howard Hughes and a sister Terry VanGiller.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Beth Winter Hughes of Pembroke, son Russell "Hutch" Hughes, Jr. of Pembroke, daughters and son-in-laws Misty and Alvin Jones of Pembroke, Ashley and Nick Smeelie of Fayetteville, NC, Sonya Black of Statesboro, And Christy Christmas of Brunswick; brothers Robert Hughes of Pembroke, David Hughes of Savannah, Jessie Hughes of MN, Pat Hughes, and Glenn Hughes both of Pembroke, sisters Peggy Tate of ME, Pam Drazich of CA, and Valerie Hughes of Pembroke; 10 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Visitation will be 2-3 P.M. Wed. Jan 22, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial service will be 3 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
