Savannah- Mr. Richard Wayne Turner, age 65 died Friday evening at Hospice Savannah while surrounded by his family. Mr. Turner was a life-long resident of Savannah and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was owner and operator of C &W Motors and was a member and deacon of the First Assembly of God in Savannah. Mr. Turner loved to sing and frequently attended and participated in gospel sings. He enjoyed ministering to the residents of the local care homes with his music.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cheryl Boyd Turner of Savannah; son Stephen Wayne Turner of Ft. Lauderdale; daughter Terri Tatum (Jim) of Savannah; sister Martha Hendley (Obie) of Savannah; grandsons Jake and Nick Tatum of Savannah; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
Visitation will be 9:30 -11 A.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at First Assembly of God, 1901 Pennsylvania Ave. in Savannah. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. at the church with Rev. Cecil Gray and Rev. Ronnie Miles officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416-0190.
