Pembroke-Mr. Richard A. Dukes age 71 passed away Thursday December 27, 2012 at his home. Mr. Dukes a longtime resident of Pembroke was retired from Bryan County as a road maintenance supervisor and as a long-haul truck driver. He loved fishing and watching TV. He was predeceased by his parents Denver and Ruth Lanigan Dukes, daughter Karen Crosby Lee and sister Judy Dukes Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years Alma Ruth Mallard Dukes of Pembroke, sons and daughter-in-law Lemuel Keith Crosby of Aiken, SC; John Kenneth and Deborah Crosby of Pembroke, Shane Dukes of Claxton, Johnny Cleland of Pembroke, and Gaston Vance of Pembroke; daughters and sons-in-law Teresa Ehrman of Claxton, Tina and Terry Morsie of Bluefield, WV, Sandra and Jeff Barnhardt of Pinehurst, NC, Pamela Taylor of Anderson, SC and Lisa Branham of Hartsville, SC; brother and sister-in-law Dewayne and Beth Dukes of Thomaston, sisters and brother-in-law Betty Hollingsworth of Sylvania, and Janie and Danny Wade of Clanton, AL; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Dukes at 2 P.M. Saturday in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
