Pembroke- Mr. Louis Calvin Oliver, Sr., age 78, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014 while under the care of Hospice Savannah. Mr. Oliver was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was previously in charge of housekeeping at Memorial Medical Center and later retired as a truck driver for the American Red Cross. Mr. Louis loved to fish and most of all, he loved his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Jean Oliver and one son, Aaron Oscar Oliver.
Survivors include his son, Louis C. Oliver, Jr. of Pembroke; daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah O. Ramirez of Savannah and Stephanie and Scott Smith of Kennesaw; three brothers, Raymond Oliver of Pembroke and Mike and Tim Oliver of Ellabell; four sisters, Annette Andrea of Tybee, Gail Layne of TN., Janice Strickland of Savannah and Kim Lee of Groveland; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-9 P.M. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Pastor Stanley Tyson officiating. Burial will follow at 1 P.M. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.
