Mr. Johnny Hires

Ellabell-Mr. John Pierce "Johnny Paul" Hires age 71 passed away Thursday November 21, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hires was a long time resident of Ellabell and of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Special Forces and a Green Beret. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local # 26 and worked at Stone Container for over 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his mother Mattie Bragg Hires and a brother Ricky Hires.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Susan Garrett Hires of Ellabell, his father Willie Hires of Ellabell, four sons and daughters-in-law Russell Hires of Millen, Joseph and Ilene Hires of Brooklet, Paul and Katie Hires of Brooklet, Kevin and Tina Hires of Ellabell, three daughters and sons-in-law Kim Mosley and Dana Helmly, Sr. of Rincon, Paula and Wyman Wilson of Brooklet, Tracy and Riley Tillman of Ellabell; two brothers and sisters-in-law Willie Hires, Jr., and Tommy and Rosemary Hires all of Jesup, a sister Ann Collins of Pembroke, special brother-in-law Mike Garrett; seventeen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will 5 -8 P.M. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 in the chapel with Rev. Dan Bryant officiating.
