Mr. James Grizzard, Sr

Brooklet-Mr. James Michael "Jim" Grizzard, Sr. age 74, passed away Thursday September 20, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in the attendance of his loving family. Mr. Grizzard was a Navy veteran and retired with over 20 years service in the Naval Reserve. He was retired from Union Camp where he worked as a pipefitter in the Maintenance Department. He attended Old Fellowship Baptist Church in Brooklet and also The Holy Church of God @ Black Creek. He had many interests in life among them was Scuba Diving, Bee Keeping, Motor Cycles, reading the Bible and religious literature, and was an enthusiastic Christian and a dedicated family man deeply loving his family. But the love of his life was Weight Lifting at which he excelled. He operated his own gym and inspired many in the art of weight lifting. He is predeceased by his parents Charlie Lee and Lucille Patrick Grizzard.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Joan Delores Perkins Grizzard, son and daughter-in-law James "Michael" Jr. and Cynthia Grizzard of Brooklet, grandsons Joshua Michael Grizzard of Savannah and Zachary Thomas Grizzard of Brooklet; sisters Juanita Price Thompson and Margie G. Allen both of Denham Springs, LA., a number of nieces and nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be 3-6 P.M. Sunday September 23, 2012 at the funeral home. Funeral Service is 11 A.M. Monday September 24, 2012 in the chapel with Reverend Reland Morgan and Pastor Stan Tyson officiating. Interment will be 2 P.M. at Greenwich Cemetery in Thunderbolt, GA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to "The Jim Grizzard Missions Fund" with checks made payable to: ALMI, P.O. Box 381, Ellabell, GA. 31308.
