Pembroke- Mr. Colen Floyd, age 82 died Friday morning March 15, 2013 at Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mr. Floyd was a 1948 graduate of Pembroke High School and was a life-long resident of Pembroke. He was the owner and operator of Cleukenheimer's Corner from which he farmed and tended many acres of timber. Mr. Floyd also raise generations of White Spaniard Longhorn cattle that have been in the family for many decades. He loved feeding his fish, hosting family gatherings at his pond house, and anonymously extending a helping to those in need.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Bob and Deborah Floyd of Pembroke; two daughters and son-in-laws Janice and James F. Mattison of Lincolnton, GA and Emily F. and Byron Fountain of Vidalia; one brother James E. Floyd of Garden City and five grandchildren Alex Floyd, Thomas Floyd, Colen F. Mattison, Julianne Mattison and Morgan Rosail Taylor.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 P.M. Sunday at Lawrence Church Cemetery with Elder Spencer Moore officiating. Memorial contribution may be made to Shriner's Children Hospital, P.O. Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416. Flanders Morrison Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
