Black Creek- Calvin Hardie Cole, Jr. age 72 died Monday evening at his home while surrounded by his family. Mr. Cole was a long-time resident of Black Creek and was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. He was an excellent carpenter and homebuilder, and also retired after 15 years of service with Chatham County Public Works. Mr. Cole was a true craftsman of wood and could build anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling and was quiet the jokester, but most of all; he enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Cole was predeceased by his parents Calvin Hardie Cole, Sr. and Anna Mae Davis Cole and one grandson Jeremy Logan Cole.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Patricia Ann Faircloth Cole of Black Creek; two sons and a daughter-in-law Calvin Cole, III and Kimberly Cole of Pooler and Troy Shannon Cole of Black Creek; two daughters and sons-in-law Linda Jeanette and Clyde Ellis of Warner Robins and Schelynn Victoria and Edwin Lewis of Kingsland; three brothers Larry Cole of Colorado, Terry Cole of Bloomingdale and Mark Cole of Guyton; two sisters Carole Faircloth of Black Creek and Nina Turner of Pembroke; 10 grandchildren Daniel, Amber, Alyssa, Jesse, Whitney, Aron, Haley, Austin, and Preston; and eight great grandchildren Jacob, Cyrus, Keyleigh, Jack, Ben, Molly, and Zoi.
Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Rev. Albert Hill officiating, assisted by Pastor Brad Proudfoot. Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice Advantage for the wonderful care given during Mr. Cole's illness. Flanders Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
