Pembroke-Mr. Thomas Anthony "Andy" Newman age 64 passed away Monday July 1, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Newman was a lifelong resident of Bryan County and 1967 graduate of Bryan County High School. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and was an Army veteran where he served in Vietnam earning the Purple Heart. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union Local 26 and had worked at Savannah Machine and Shipyard, was a welder for Omega Steel, and worked in maintenance at Derst Baking Company. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, an avid fisherman, and an excellent cook. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas Edison and Erva Lee Futch Newman, brothers Paul and Steven Newman, sisters Evon Futch and Ranee Kicklighter; and daughter Joanie Lee Newman.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Wanda Bragg Newman of Pembroke, daughter Carol Amanda Newman of Pembroke; brothers Gary and Bobby Newman both of Blitchton, sisters Billy Jean Demine of Pembroke, Mona Waters and Mary Alice Boydston both of Nichols, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 6-9 P.M. Friday July 5, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M Saturday July 6, 2013 in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Jeff Spencer officiating.
