Mr. Michael William Macchio, 69, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mr. Macchio was born to the late William John and Mollie Amicucci Macchio on February 17, 1946 in Yonkers, NY. He was a member of the Pembroke United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Navy and served during Vietnam. Mr. Macchio was an excellent pattern maker and carpenter for the Charleston Naval Shipyard and the Ralph H. Johnson V. A. Medical Center. He also served as an instructor in the craft shop at both Ft. Stewart and Hunter and was the former property appraiser and code enforcement for Bryan County. Mr. Macchio was a former volunteer fire fighter for the New York City Fire Department and later served as coordinator for the Bryan County Fire Department.
Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Pamela Jane Macchio; sons, Shannon (Keri) and Kerry Macchio all of Summerville, SC; daughters, Sheri Biller of PA and Mary Waterman of Pooler, GA; sister, Vickie Maher of OH; brother and sister-in-law Retired Colonel Joseph H. Purvis, Jr. (Susie), 9 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, Kinsleigh Grace.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the funeral home from 5 – 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Matt Avera officiating.
