Pembroke- Mrs. Mary Lou Sharon Rowland Anderson, age 81 passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at Bryan County Health and Rehab. Mrs. Anderson was born August 18, 1941 in Auburndale, FL to the late Needham Fate and Delilia Gaffney Rowland. She was employed in the Environmental Service Department at Winter Haven Hospital in Florida before retiring to Pembroke. After moving to Pembroke, she became a caregiver to many children and elderly members of the community. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, western movies, gospel music and caring for her pets. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, James Rudolph Anderson, two brothers, Doyle and Dale and three sister, Sylvia, Faylene and Shirley.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Peter Tong of Auburndale, FL, Helen and Ronnie Strickland of Pembroke, Angela and Scott Lancaster of Ellabell, Shelia and Stephen Way of Black Creek, and Miranda and Sandy Salters of Plant City, FL; two step daughters and a step son-in-law, Patricia Thompson of Brooklet and Christine and Larry Nelson of Auburndale, FL; one brother, Needham Rowland, Jr. of Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. Friday, September 23, 2022 at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Monday, September 26, 2022 at Green Pond Cemetery in Polk City, FL with Pastor Jay Segar officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
