Ellabell- Mary Catherine Ray Burnsed Hendry passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021. Mrs. Hendry was born August 6, 1934 in Willie, GA, now part of Fort Stewart Reservation. She lived on this earth for 86 years and went home to live eternally with Jesus, her Savior. Mrs. Hendry was a homemaker and a current member of Sand Hill Baptist Church in Guyton. She was formerly a member of First Baptist Church of Blitchton. Mrs. Hendry can be remembered by a few of her favorite quotes that gave her strength to get through the tough days. “God doesn’t give us what we can handle, God helps us handle what we are given.” “God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain. But He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way. “ “Take your bad days one at a time and never take your good days for granted.” Mrs. Hendry’s favorite Bible verses was Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord, your God, will be with you wherever you go.”
Mrs. Hendry was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, George Thurmond Hendry and her parents, Lee and Thaedes Burnsed.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis (Faye) Hendry, Royce (Sandie) Hendry, and Mark Hendry; grandchildren, Robbie (Leah) Hendry, Amanda (Brandon) Myers, and Varanda (Joseph) Nunnaly; great grandchildren, Brody Myers, Holden Nunnally, Isabella Nunnally, Hadley Jo Nunnally, Annabella Hendry and Alexandria Hendry; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2021 in the Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Royce Hendry officiating. Interment will follow in Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
