Mary Bacon

Ellabell-  Mrs. Mary Belva Smith Bacon, age 86, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at her home.  Mrs. Bacon was born in Chicago, IL to the late Edward L. Smith, Sr. and Eleanor Karasiewicz Smith.  She was homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother.   Mrs. Bacon served as a postmaster with the United States Postal Service, was an avid reader and loved taking care of her plants.  Mrs. Bacon was a member of Ellabell Church of Christ, where she was involved in many of the church’s activities including teaching Sunday School.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bacon was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harry Olan Bacon, Sr. and one son-in-law, Mark Callaway.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Olan Bacon, Jr. and his wife, Margaret Bacon of Ellabell;  daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Alan Greenwell of Ellabell, Teresa Callaway of Ellabell, and Leslie and Jay Williams of Ellabell; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward L. Smith Jr. and his wife, Elaine Smith of Ellabell and one sister, Patricia Smith of Ellabell;  eight grandchildren, Shawn, Kasey, Kelly, Kevin, Scott, Kristin, Allison and Zachary; ten great grandchildren and two great great grandsons.

A graveside service will be held 2:30 P.M. Monday, June 13, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Ellabell Cemetery.  Dr. Joe Holloway officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Pet Rescue, 7430 Thomas Ave. Savannah, GA 31406.
