Mary Alice Akins

Ms. Mary Alice Akins, age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at her residence. Ms. Akins was born on August 14, 1931 to the late Fitzhugh Boatright and Isabell Clamp Boatright in Columbia, SC. She was a loving and caring house wife and a member of South Newington Baptist Church. Ms. Akins enjoyed yo-yo quilt making and loves her dog, Missy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three husbands, David Williams, Paul Akins and Beaul Beasley; daughter, Terri Hughes; two brothers, Olin Boatright and Ernest Boatright and two sisters, Katherine Miller and Ellen Hodge.

Survivors include her children, Brenda Rahal (Carlos Reza) of Savannah, Kay Sapp (Wayne) of Pembroke, Ronald David Williams of Clyo and Laura Ferrell (Mike) of Savannah; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristie, Ashley, Michael and Erin; 10 great grandchildren, Landon, Colton, Nora, Paul, Abigail, Kate, Aiden, DeClan, Mavrick and Owen and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Matt Gallant and Chaplain Daren Russell officiating.

Burial will be held at Red Hill Cemetery.
