Martin "Bo" Waltman, Jr.

Ellabell - Martin “Bo” Roy Waltman, Jr. age 86 passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Waltman was born in Dermott, AR to the late Martin Roy Waltman, Sr. and Evelyn Blanks Waltman. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Des Moines. Mr. Waltman was also a graduate of Arkansas State Teacher’s College where he received his B.S.Ed. He taught and coached high school football in Conway Springs, KS before becoming and electrical design engineer. For over 30 years, Mr. Waltman was a private contractor for numerous aerospace companies, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Gulfstream. Mr. Waltman was a boat captain in the U.S Coast Guard Auxiliary and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He loved being on the water and NCAA football. In addition to his parents, Mr. Waltman was preceded in death by his wife of over 59 years, Frances “Franny” Knoll Waltman.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Martin R. Waltman, III and his wife, Teresa Waltman of Benton, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Marcel and Scott Sparks of Ellabell; sister, Marilyn Waltman Hall of Denison, TX; grandchildren, Gaylon and Allison Davis, Ryan Davis, Sarah Sparks and her husband Vincent Streeter and Krystle Jewell and one great granddaughter, Luna Jewell.

A memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Waltman will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, January 19, 2023 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with military honors. Inurnment will follow later at Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Glennville, GA.  Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 42 W. Montgomery Cross Rd. Savannah, GA 31406.
