Maria Milagros Oquendo

Richmond Hill-  Maria Milagros Oquendo, age 82 passed away Monday, October 2, 2023.  Mrs. Oquendo was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to the late Arturo Oquendo and Maria Rodriguez.  Mrs. Maria was a Spanish teacher for the New York City Board of Education for many years.  She loved to crochet, knitting, solving puzzles an taking care of her plants.

Survivors include her daughter, Irene Rivera Ferrer of Richmond Hill and three grandchildren, Amanda Marie of Richmond Hill, Christian Estevez of California and Andy “A.J” Ferrer, Jr. of Richmond Hill.

The family will receive friends for 10-11 A.M. Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the funeral home.  A memorial service will follow at 11 A.M. Thursday, October 5, 2023 in the chapel of Flanders  Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Tyson officiating.
