Leola Parson Sexton McCoy

Mrs. Leola Parson Sexton McCoy, age 98, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Mrs. McCoy was born in Scott Conty, TN to the late C.C. Parson and Gertrude Willoughby Parson on August 10, 1924. She was a loving and caring homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, playing piano and fishing. Mrs. McCoy was a member of Christ Baptist Church in Ellabell and served as the church pianist for ten years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert George McCoy; daughter, Linda Kay McCoy Strickland and son Norman Sexton; four brothers, Frank, Thomas Lee, Clifford and Dester and five sisters, Louise, Gladys, Violet, Martha Ann and Frankie June.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond McCoy and his wife Vera of Pembroke, Alan McCoy and his wife Nell of Pembroke; and Keith McCoy and his wife Beth of Pembroke; brother, Chester Lee Parson and his wife Sandy of MI and sister, Frances of Paris, Texas; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Alan McCoy officiating.

Burial will be held at Lawrence Baptist Church Cemetery.
