Lawrence Henry Schuermann, Jr.

Ellabell- Lawrence “Butch” Henry Schuermann, Jr., age 66, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.  Mr. Schuermann was born in Rock Island, IL to the late Lawrence Henry Schuermann and Elizabeth Jane Scherahel Schuermann.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.  Mr. Schuermann retired as chief of police for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs with over 38 years of service.  He served in Charleston, Atlanta, Sturgis and Danville, IL.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, enjoyed taking care of his bonsai trees and German shepherds, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren. 

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence Nathaniel and Aubrey Schuermann of Rincon, Eric Justin Schuermann of Ellabell and Westley Chase Schuermann and Julia Marie Lemieux of Jacksonville; brother, Rusty Lynn Schuermann of Rock Island, IL; two grandsons, Lawrence “K.J.” Schuermann and Henry B. Schuermann and one nephew, Rusty Lynn Schuermann, Jr.
