Larry Ray Mize

Mr. Larry Ray Mize, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mr. Mize was born in Athens on September 11, 1952 to the late Joseph William Mize and Joe Ann Strickland Mize. He grew up in the Georgia Baptist Children’s home and later obtained a Drafting Degree from Savannah Technical College He was employed with Shop-N-Go as a manager and then Ferrellgas as a propane driver. Mr. Mize enjoyed crafts, gardening and his flowers. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Mize. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Brenda Sue Saxon Messex-Mize; daughter, Catherine Raye Mize Taylor and her husband Allen of Ebenezer; son, Wesley James Messex of Ellabell; two brothers, Bobby Mize and his wife Joy and Jack Mize and his wife Barbara all of Hinesville; two sisters, Julia Ann Carter of Baxley and Jean Ashburn and her husband Jack Richardson of Jackson, SC; two grandchildren, Clayton Smith and William Brackin and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
