Kathy Diane Gann, 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Candler Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Diagnosed with cancer in August 2024, she faced her battle with grace, courage, and an unshakable spirit.
Born on August 11, 1951, Kathy was the glue that held her family together. She was married to the love of her life, Garvin Gann, for 54 beautiful years. Their marriage was a testament to unwavering love and devotion, and she took immense joy in caring for and spoiling him—and everyone else she loved. Kathy was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Tina, Kristie, and Karen, always their biggest cheerleader and source of unwavering support. She sacrificed much to give her family a better life, always putting them first. Her pride and joy were her grandsons—Zachary, Preston, Tristen, and Patrick—whom she adored beyond measure. As “Nana,” she left them with countless cherished memories and lessons in love.
In recent years, Kathy found great happiness with her brother, Mackie Guess. Their bond brought immense joy to her life, and they shared a special closeness that will be treasured forever. Kathy also shared an extraordinary bond with her lifelong best friend, Geneva Wiggins. Together, they created a lifetime of laughter, adventures, and unshakable friendship. Kathy was the life of every party, drawing people in with her vibrant personality, generous spirit, and infectious joy. Feisty, spunky, and full of grace, Kathy’s strength and courage shown until the very end. Her legacy of love, resilience, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. It was a privilege for Kathy’s daughters to care for her during her final journey. Kristie rarely left her side, providing constant love and support, a reflection of the unbreakable she shared with all of her daughters.
Visitation will be held 5-7 P.M. Friday, December 6, 2024 at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Saturday, December 7, 2024 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Creech officiating.
Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, Renegade Paws, or the Telfair Mammography Fund.
Flanders Powell Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
