Kathryn Newman Butler, age 88, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 after an extended illness. Mrs. Butler was born Jan. 27, 1928 in Chatham County to the late John W. and Bertha Lanier Newman. She was a long-time resident of Blitchton and retired with over 20 years of service in production at Union Camp. Mrs. Butler was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, John Cecil Butler, Sr.
Survivors include her son and his companion, John C. “Johnny” Butler, Jr. and Cathy West of Ellabell; one brother, Raymond C. Newman of Ellabell; one grandson, John C. Butler, III; one great granddaughter, Valerie Butler; one great great granddaughter, Jasmine Butler and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the funeral home.
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Dr. Lawrence Butler officiating.
Interment will follow in Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
