Joel D. Myers

Pembroke-  Mr. Joel D. “Bubba” Myers, age 83 passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023.  Mr. Myers was born in Macon, GA on July 30, 1939 to the late Ernest Myers and Estell Dyer Myers.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the National Guard.  Mr. Myers was retired with over 16 years of service with Southern Natural Gas Company. He established Myers and Son, Inc. over 23  years ago and was co-owner and operator of the slope and canal maintenance company.  Mr. Myers was a member of Pembroke Methodist Church, Pembroke Masonic Lodge F & AM and was a member of the Rusty Relics Tractor Club.  He enjoyed farming and working on tractors.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by five brothers, Eddie Myers, Willie Myers, Wilton “Monk” Myers, Jacky Myers and Harry Myers and one sister, Betty Ann Greeson.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorthy Souls Myers of Pembroke; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Vivian Myers of Pembroke; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Junior Shuman of Pembroke; one granddaughter and her husband, Samantha and Donovan Joyner of Pembroke;  one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby “Pee Wee” and Rhonda Myers of Pembroke; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and  Ken Waldrop of Alabama, Mary ”Midget” and Tom Larson of Alabama, Debra “Tiny” Aurora of Pooler and Martha “Baby” and Bobby Brown of Guyton.

A memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Mr. Joel Myers residence, 1930 Otter Hole Branch Road, Pembroke, GA.

In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or the Shriners Hospital.
