Mrs. Joe Ann Williams Jarrell, age 76, passed away at Hospice Savannah on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Mrs. Jarrell was born on May 22, 1942 to the late George Teddy and Lily Florine Coley Williams in Savannah, GA. Mrs. Jarrell was a 1960 graduate of Groves High School. After graduation, she worked as a paralegal in various law firms in Savannah. Mrs. Jarrell also worked as a typesetter for Kennickell Printing Company and Jackson Printing Company. At age 66, she received her degree in early childhood education and taught at Head Start in Liberty County and Savannah Technical College for 5 years. Mrs. Jarrell was also a member of Beulah Baptist Church where she served as the pianist and organist for 30 years and also served as the treasurer, secretary and was a vacation Bible school teacher. She was a former chairman of the Bryan County Board of Education, Bryan County High School Booster Club Officer, served as an alternate for the Board of Tax Equalization and was also a member of the Higher Call Builders. In the 1980’s, she served as an officer for the Hendrix Park Board of Directors and also ran the concession stand. Mrs. Jarrell was an artist, working in paints and enjoyed reading and board games.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Archie Milton Jarrell, Jr.; two sons, Archie Jarrell, III and his wife Chris of Jackson, SC and Steven Jarrell and his wife Shannon of Pembroke; five daughters, Diane Boutwell and her husband Allen of Ellabell, Barbara Jarrell of Blitchton, Donna Thomson and her husband Curtis of Savannah, Nancy Smith and her husband Henry of Brooklet and Stephanie Shearouse and her husband Harry of Murphy, TX; brother, Teddy Williams and his wife Joyce of Auburntown, TN; 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Beulah Baptist Church with Reverend Steve McCoy officiating.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
