Mrs. Joan Hendrix Miller, 77, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Mrs. Miller was born on June 10, 1939 to the late Joseph F. Hendrix and Lila Fay Groover Nettles in Willie, GA. Mrs. Miller was a lifelong resident of Ellabell and grew up in the home of Mary Lee and G.D. Hendrix, Sr. She was employed with the Bryan County Board of Education as a Teacher’s Aid for 10 years, a substitute teacher for 25 years and a beautician. She was a member of Ellabell United Methodist Church; was a member of the Inez Smith Sunday School Class, Ellabell United Methodist Women and was a member of the Mary Lee Hendrix Circle. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Bryan County Shrine Club Auxiliary and was the Past Worthy Matron of The Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to travel, read and working with puzzles, but most of all she loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Kenneth “Kenny” Miller; brother, Franklin Hendrix and sister Doris Hendrix Dowd.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Diane Miller and Oscar Padgett, Donna Miller and Skip Waters, Dale Miller and Aaron “Junior” Williams and Joannie Miller and Barry Kohler all of Ellabell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Winkie and Linda Miller; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clay Loadman, Sr. and Reverend Don Combs and officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ellabell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Ellabell United Methodist Church, the Bryan County Shrine Club and Auxiliary.
