How do you sum up a man’s life in just a few words? A man who meant so much to so many. A great husband and an amazing father, faithful friend and colleague. Those were just a few of the amazing traits of Jesse Donald Schumpert.
Jesse Donald Schumpert, known as (Don or Schump) to all who knew him. The husband of Ramona Sullivan Schumpert, they shard 42 years of marriage and resided in Ellabell, GA. Don was born on December 18, 1942 in Dunbarton, SC, raised in Williston, SC and passed away the morning of May 30th, 2024. His loss leaves a big hole in the hearts of all who knew him. He gave all he had to his family. His children and grandchildren; sons, Brannen Schumpert and Jesse Schumpert; his favorite child, Jessica West (Clint), and his grandchildren, Harley “Munchkin) West, Julian “June bug” West, Michael Berry and Kassidy Young.
He was a man who was loved, Papa Don, Uncle Don, Daddy, Honey; he was called many things but to know him was to love him. His talents and interests seemed limitless-builder, gardener, farmer, storyteller, puzzle connoisseur, he was always getting into something. Don was always outside working on one thing or another from building the chicken Taj mahal to “working” on the farm with his best friend, Tommy Parker, he never slowed down. Schump retired from Crescent Towing after 22 years. He was an avid fan of the South Carolina Game Cocks but supported his family’s love of UGA. He loved Westerns, Fox News, and Trump. His memory will live on in the hearts of many due to his love and kindness he showed to all hear on earth.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Ed and Bessie Schumpert as well as his sisters, Judy and Edwina.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and brother, Little Ed Schumpert as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
